Solmentum is a residential solar power sales company. We sell a program that provides a cost-effective, alternative way to purchase residential electricity. If a home qualifies, it receives a free upgrade to cheaper solar power. Our customers enjoy the benefits of solar energy without the cost of solar panel installation and maintenance.

Together with SunRun, our solar financing partner, Solmentum is one of the largest residential solar companies in California by number of customers. We’re dedicated to driving the mass adoption of solar power nationwide.

Leading the Way

Jason Brown
Co-Founder & CEO

Jason has a history of building business success. While just a college freshman, he earned the National Manager of the Year award at a nationwide sales company. Four years later, Jason went on to build the largest residential exterior house painting company in Massachusetts (oh, and he also managed to simultaneously graduate Summa Cum Laude from Boston University).

Jason then co-founded iTOK, a technology-enabled services company that helps broadband providers like Comcast increase subscriber retention. After DirectPointe acquired iTOK, Jason earned an MBA from Chicago Booth and co-founded Solmentum.

If you want a successful path in business, following Jason has proven to be quite prudent.

Jasper Platz
Co-Founder & COO/CFO

Jasper found success early, graduating with highest honors from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland and earning the prize for best economics student. From there, he jumped on the fast track to a highly successful career, becoming a Chartered Accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Here he managed multi-million dollar corporate accounts and was set to quickly advance in the organization.

But the lure of entrepreneurship drew him away from the corporate path. After earning an MBA from Chicago Booth, he worked with Jason to co-found Solmentum. Today, he helps lead the company and runs the numbers and operations. He is also the author of the Inside Solar Blog.

Young Executives

Michael Abramovic
Director of Sales

Michael, a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, was the first member of the Solmentum team. His management and entrepreneurial skills have been instrumental in making Solmentum an industry leader and one of the fastest growing startups in the residential solar market.

As a student, Michael helped run one of Illinois’ largest residential painting companies, generating $600,000 in sales in one year. Upon graduating, he helped start a nationwide home coatings sales and marketing firm in conjunction with Home Depot. Michael is an inspirational leader who excels at helping individuals perform at their full potential.

Jeremy Chou
Director of Recruiting

Jeremy studied economics at Stanford University and has since devoted his career to green energy. But his true passion is people. Jeremy thrives on helping people succeed. At Solmentum, he quickly rose through the ranks and is now instrumental in maintaining the supportive, inspiring, and fun team atmosphere we enjoy at Solmentum.

Jeremy’s work in recruiting began with a prominent role at Coyote Creek Consulting. Here he was responsible for establishing relationships with senior Silicon Valley executives and helping to identify and interview top talent.

Solmentum is backed by a group of experienced angel and venture capital investors, as well as key advisors.

Among our trusted advisors is Travis Bradford. Travis is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago. He’s also Editor-in-Chief of PVNews, the solar energy industry’s oldest newsletter, and the author of Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry. He’s lectured on finance, entrepreneurship, and alternative energy economics at Columbia University, Duke University, New York University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University. In other words, his knowledge of the solar sector runs deep.

But he’s also a partner at Atlas Capital, a hedge fund based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. So he knows a good investment when he sees one. Which is why we’re honored to have him on our side.
